When reporting on the Marikana clash between the South African Police Services and Marikana
mineworkers, scenes were broadcast of what appeared to be the bodies of dead and wounded mineworkers. No warning was given to viewers.
The Tribunal held that, although an error had been made, the circumstances did not justify a finding that the broadcaster had contravened the Code.
