An appeal has been received against a decision by a Commissioner who adjudicated the complaint. The complaint was against the broadcast in which a presenter uttered words that offended the complainant.
The complainant stated the following: I was listening to Kaya FM this morning between 8am and 9am and suddenly I heard some utterances from both programme directors. The male programme director called the female one “Ngungunyane” and the response from the female presenter was “Ngungunyane Ke Mmago” (that means whatever you are saying, you referred to your mother). The complainant proceeded to state that as one of the Kaya FM listeners he found it humiliating and disturbing to the poor mother and in addition it is very sensitive to “our ears” to listen to that kind of utterances on public radio. The complainant says “I was under the impression that Radio programme directors are professionals and mentors of our children, but the incident of today has left me with some question marks that should I keep on listening to the Kaya FM Radio. Can this matter be investigated and let the Offender apologise to the listeners of Kaya FM.
