The Complainant filed a complaint that in commenting on the Respondent’s approach to Zimbabwe, radioa presenter reacted by rejecting his opinion as “rubbish” that Zimbabwean President Mugabe should be removed by the ballot box and not by other non-democratic methods.

The Tribunal held that the Code did not prohibit this kind of language or reaction and that it was a matter for internal ethical policy to address. The Tribunal noted, with appreciation, that the station manager rejected this kind of approach to listeners.

The Complaint was not upheld.
