The Complainant filed a complaint that in commenting on the Respondent’s approach to Zimbabwe, a presenter reacted by rejecting his opinion as “rubbish” that Zimbabwean President Mugabe should be removed by the ballot box and not by other non-democratic methods.
The Tribunal held that the Code did not prohibit this kind of language or reaction and that it was a matter for internal ethical policy to address. The Tribunal noted, with appreciation, that the station manager rejected this kind of approach to listeners.
The Complaint was not upheld.
