Two complainants lodged a complaint about the Carte Blanche programme that was broadcast on 26 May 2024 with as topic, Rhino Poaching. They were of the opinion that their rights to privacy and dignity were infringed. Found that the views expressed were comment that complied with Clause 28 (2)(2) of the Code. As far as the complainants’ rights to privacy and dignity are concerned, it was held that the facts were already in the public domain, particularly the conservation industry. Any perceived infringement of the right to dignity is overridden by the legitimate public interest.
