The Complainant, which represents a wide range of companies that provide, inter alia, booking and
related services, argued that it was not included in a broadcast where one of its clients was singled out for attack for alleged poor and or evasive practices.
The SABC stated that it did attempt to get the Complainant on the programme. However, the SABC did not provide any evidence that this was so. The Tribunal accepted that some trouble had been taken. However, the Tribunal held that once the panel was put together, it should have been obvious to the producer not to continue with the production without a representative from the Complainant. The matter should have been postponed.
Since a follow-up of the programme was made in which the CEO of the Complainant was present and he expressed his satisfaction at the hearing, it was decided not to impose a sanction.
