Complainant argued that a reference to “kaknet” (translated: “shitnet”) on talk radio was indecent radioand offensive in terms of the Broadcasting Code. The broadcaster argued that this was a mere play of words and that it introduced a comical note to the programme, which was known for its outrageous host and his statements.

 BCCSA holding that although the word was not one which should be used often, given the manner in which it was said, it did not amount to a contravention of the Code.

 Reference to area as a “lowlife spot”, also not a contravention of the Code. Reference, however, in questionable taste.
