SABC 3 TV broadcast a series in which the culling of elephants in a responsible and organized televisionmanner is furthered in the interests of conservation of the bush, which, according to the producers, is destroyed by elephants where their numbers become too large. The complainants argue that the producers misrepresent the position and that they are simply putting forward a view, which would support hunting of elephants.

The Commission held that the likely viewers of this programme would have the insight to realize that the film aims at furthering a particular view and that they would know that it is not the only view and that there would be strongly opposing views.

Complaint not upheld.
