The Complainant complained about a news item, which related the experiences of two women who televisionhad, according to them, been raped. The one woman referred to the experience by quoting the coarse language used by the alleged rapist. The Complainant felt that this kind of language was not appropriate for the news and was harmful to children.

BCCSA holding that the item was absolutely necessary in informing the public of the trauma of the women involved. Complaint not upheld.
