20 MAY    LATEST ADJUDICATON  19-A-2011

CASE NO - 17-2012 - MULTICHOICE - MK CHANNEL - MUSIC VIDEO - HARMFUL TO CHILDREN PDF Print Email

Given the fact that the broadcasts on this channel (MK 324) are continuously protected by a 16 age restriction, the material complained about does not justify an intervention by this Tribunal in this case. A 16 year old would have been able to understand the material in context. A subscriber who has under sixteen year olds in his or her household must take the necessary steps by way of the parental block-out mechanism to ensure that the material is not seen by children under sixteen years of age. If that is not done, then the broadcaster cannot be held responsible. The material is not of such a nature that it would have justified an 18 classification. The complaint was not upheld.  T Barry vs Multichoice MK Channel
